This page sets out who writes the casino and sports betting sections of Slapshot Diaries, what our reviews are actually based on, and what happens when we publish something that turns out to be wrong.

1. Who Writes This Coverage

Casino and sports betting coverage on this site is published under a team byline, Slapshot Diaries Editorial, rather than under the name of an individual writer. Previous versions of these pages carried individual bylines. We removed them because we could not stand behind them: the claims attached to those names, including regulatory and responsible-gambling credentials, were not held by a verifiable person.

We would rather publish under the name of the publication than attach a review to someone whose expertise a reader cannot check. Where a claim would depend on an individual's credentials, we do not make the claim.

Hockey stories elsewhere on the site carry their own bylines and, where a story was told to us, an attribution line naming the person who told it.

2. How Operators Are Selected

Every casino and sportsbook covered on our Ontario-facing pages is checked against the public AGCO register and its iGaming Ontario operating agreement before it appears in a ranking. An offshore licence does not qualify an operator for these lists. Regulatory standing is checked first and the commercial relationship second; comparable operators without an affiliate relationship may still be referenced in editorial content where relevant.

3. What Our Reviews Are Based On

Ratings are built from what each operator publishes and what the regulator publishes about it: the operator's own terms and conditions, its banking documentation, its game library or market coverage, and its entry on the AGCO register.

Where an operator does not publish something (a full banking list, a payout target, a withdrawal time), we say so on the page rather than fill the gap with an estimate. A figure that appears in one of our tables is a figure the operator has committed to in writing somewhere we can point at.

The detailed scoring weights for casino reviews are published on the Best Online Casinos in Canada page under "How We Rate", so that the method sits next to the ranking it produced rather than on a page nobody reads.

4. Sportsbook Reviews

Sportsbooks are reviewed from a bettor's perspective, comparing published market coverage, odds formats and cash-out terms before any rating goes up. The focus is NHL betting markets, live wagering, and how sportsbook terms actually read once you get past the front page.

The standing advice on that section of the site has not changed: bankroll first, bets second. If you cannot afford to lose it, do not wager it.

5. Corrections

When we find an error, we correct it on the page and update the page's modified date so the change is visible to readers and to search engines. We do not quietly edit a claim and leave the original date standing.

Where a correction changes a ranking, a rating or a factual figure, the corrected page says what changed. Our dataset pages carry the date on which their figures were last checked against source, and that date only moves when the check is actually re-run.

6. Commercial Relationships

Slapshot Diaries earns affiliate commission from some of the operators it covers. No operator pays for placement, ranking or favourable coverage, and commission never depends on a player's losses. 7. Responsible Gambling
